Hamilton - 6/30/2024

Harriet Flynn Reporting:

Harriet, Margo, Karl, and their friend Tom met up and headed in to Hamilton cave. It was a hot 95 degree day for the hike up to Hamilton and we sure did feel the heat. Once inside Hamilton we decided to just explore the front section. This was Tom’s first time in a cave so we took it slow and easy. After exploring for about an hour we headed out of Hamilton and went in to Trout to show Tom a different looking cave. Trout felt significantly colder than Hamilton which was a nice treat since we felt like we never cooled down from the hike up to Hamilton. We didn’t spend too much time in Trout because we came across a group of bats that were not happy that we were there. We chilled for a while to see if the bats would settle down but it didn’t seem like they were going to do that and we assumed there would be more bats further back in the cave.

We headed back to the car and drove down the road to McCoys Mill Cave where we spend some time and saw some super cool salamanders!
