Crossroads Cave - 8/4/2024

Aiden Ward Reporting:

Cavers: Aidan Ward, Jack Weinbrecht, Josh Sykes, Margaret Bauman, Jess Murphy, Cody, Patrick G., Melanie, and Stephanie Gibbons.

Entering the cave around 11:45, we headed through the large entrance room and down a tricky downclimb into the "Lost and Found." From there, we squeezed and crawled our way into the main trunk passage, where we were able to walk the whole way to our first destination, "The Pit." From there we had a decision to make: do we head east through a tight fissure into another large walking passage, north towards the "Floorless Canyon," or back where we came from to check out gypsum flowers near "The Tomb?"

We decided to head north, going down another climb and saying hello to a millipede on the way, and a few of us went up another difficult climb as an extra challenge.

Then we headed back, and took a lunch break at the Pit while Jack, Josh, and Cody explored the breakdown south of the Pit. Once we recovered our energy we made our way to the Tomb and a few of us made it through the small passage that went to a dead-end speckled with gypsum flowers.

Finally, around 3pm, we started towards the exit, stopping for a lights-out before going back through the Lost and Found. We exited the cave at approximately 3:45, making it a roughly 4 hour trip.

Thanks everyone there for making it a great trip!
